About Delivered Fresh

Why we started Delivered Fresh

“There has to be a better way”. That is what we kept thinking. We loved shopping at our local farm markets, but it was so hard to get everything we needed. Sometimes the farmer wouldn’t be there, or they’d already be sold out of what we wanted. Or it would rain, and who wants to shop in the rain. If you struck out at one market, it would be a long drive to go to the next one.

We kept thinking that it would be better for the farmer and for the consumer if they could just list what they had to offer and let us put in an order for what we wanted. It’d be even better if we could get it delivered.

And that is exactly what Delivered Fresh does!

Our Farmers

We think every consumer should know what they are putting on their table. Unfortunately, a lot of labels in the grocery store don’t give you the information you need. We ask our farmers to be transparent with how they raise their animals. Every item description on our store has as much detail as possible. So if it says, “grass fed/grass finished” you know that animal never tasted grain. It’s not that we think one way is better than another, but the consumer should be allowed to make an informed decision on what to put on their table.

We also try to have as many versions as possible. For example, we have milk from cows that are only fed grass. We also have milk that is A2 certified (for those that struggle with lactose). For things that are processed, like smoked bacon, we are careful to list whether it is traditional or no-nitrate.

Our Food Makers

We ask the same thing from our food makers. Of course, we want them to use as many local ingredients as possible, but they need to list the ingredients so we all can see what went into that item. And we ask them to keep it as simple as possible. For example, our peanut butter has one ingredient: peanuts. Simple and understandable.

 Our Founders

Hi! We are David & Marla and in 2013 we started WindStone Landing Farms. David took care of the chickens and turkeys and Marla raised all sorts of veggies in the garden to make things like her famous salsa.

We loved meeting people at the farmers markets we’d attend to try and sell our products. But it was incredibly inefficient and there were only so many markets we had the time to get to. “There has to be a better way” led us to create Delivered Fresh as a better alternative for both the farmer and the consumer who wanted to shop local.

Every week we are so incredibly grateful for every single shopper that places an order with us! The support our communities have shown our local family farms and small businesses is just amazing.
